Evil Is The Nature Of Humanity

Evil and humanity
Evil thoughts and deeds are changing mankind.
There can be no better example of humanity's nature for evil than the recent mass shootings at an elementary school in Connecticut.  This tragedy ended in the needless, unmerciful murder of 20 totally innocent children.  According to the experts, this heinous crime was not the result of someones temporary insanity, but rather it was a well thought out premeditated plan.  It is the evil thoughts and deeds of this one individual that have forever changed the lives of every parent and grandparent in all areas of the free world.

The Bible teaches us that man is essentially evil by nature in Mark: 7:20-23 (NIV);
 "He went on: “What comes out of a person is what defiles them. For it is from within, out of a person’s heart, that evil thoughts come—sexual immorality, theft, murder, adultery, greed, malice, deceit, lewdness, envy, slander, arrogance and folly.  All these evils come from inside and defile a person.”
The first people on earth, Adam and Eve, can be blamed for man's evil nature.  The biblical account of Adam and Eve can be found in Genisis 2: 4-25 (NIV).  When God created Adam, He placed him in a paradise known as the Garden of Eden.  Adam saw the first trees and plants on earth and God gave him permission to eat the fruits from any tree, except for the tree of knowledge of good and evil.  God then created Eve so Adam wouldn't be alone, but when Eve was tempted by Satan, she convinced Adam to eat from the tree of knowledge and as a result sin and evil was brought to mankind.

After the great flood of Noah's day, God made a very profound statement about the evil nature of humanity in Genesis 8:21 (NIV); "The Lord smelled the pleasing aroma and said in his heart: “Never again will I curse the ground because of humans, even though every inclination of the human heart is evil from childhood. And never again will I destroy all living creatures, as I have done."

The evening news is not totally news, it's just the bad news of the day.  Newscasts are filled with murders, domestic violence, wars and any other tragedy that can befall mankind.  Even though there are many good things happening everyday around the world,  producers of news programs seem to feel that this type news is just not what people want to see and hear.  If there were a news program that only broadcast the goods things that happened throughout the world, would anyone actually watch?  Would a news channel ever receive an Emmy for broadcasting good news?

The innocence of children is being exploited by others who teach them that violence and evil are just a necessary part of life.  If parents would only take a look at some of the video games children are playing, there might be fewer violent video games.  In times gone by, families could sit down at night with a bowl of freshly popped corn and enjoy a wholesome, entertaining family movie.  Even though some family movies still exist today, most of the more popular TV stations broadcast more violence than anything else.  It just seems that the more violence and the more gruesome scenes a program has, the more popular it becomes.

Movie producers are making millions of dollars by taking childhood classic stories and turning them into violence and evil.  There are movies being produced that show historical figures in the light of violence and evil.  There is a movie out right now that portrays Abraham Lincoln as a vampire.

When an upstanding member of a community finally makes the decision to run for public office, the very first thing that the opposition and the news media try to do is to find something in this person's past to bring disgrace.  Many elections are no more than a witch hunt and even though many say this is done in order that the truth may be known, the more logical reasoning would be that people are just evil by nature.

There are those who seem to take pride in spreading gossip, not really knowing or caring whether or not  the information is true.  Most gossip seems to be about the bad things people have done or bad things that have happened in a person's life.  Would it be more likely to hear gossip about a man or woman cheating on a spouse or about a couple celebrating a 25th wedding anniversary in Hawaii?

Even though evil seems to be running more rampant throughout the world, there are many more good people and many more good things happening.  It is unfortunate that the evil events of each day are considered important, while all the good in mankind seems to just go unnoticed, but that is human nature.
